Origins
Having cultivated lessons learned from global development experiences in inclusive social accountability, and fragility, conflict and violence prevention, Community Development Insights was established by Mehreen Farooq to support communities to achieve meaningful, and lasting change.
We recognize that community development lies at the core of most social impact challenges - whether it is peace building, strengthening responsive and accountable governance, or advocating for social justice.
It requires bringing diverse stakeholders together, fostering a safe space to coalesce, and developing strategic priorities, and executing action plans — primarily using resources and assets that stakeholders already have.
I founded Community Development Insights because I have spent my career working in complex environments where lasting progress depends on more than good intentions. Whether supporting communities affected by conflict, advising organizations navigating social and political change, or helping leaders build partnerships across diverse stakeholders, I have seen firsthand that successful outcomes require a deep understanding of people, context, and systems.
Too often, decisions are made without fully understanding the environment, the stakeholders involved, or the risks and opportunities that may shape success. I believe that meaningful and sustainable change happens when organizations combine evidence, local knowledge, strategic thinking, and collaboration.
Over the past 15 years, I have developed practical tools and approaches to help organizations better understand complex challenges, engage stakeholders, strengthen partnerships, and measure what matters. Today, I bring those experiences to clients seeking clear insights, thoughtful analysis, and actionable strategies.
